Northern District Chair
Having been an APTA and IPTA member for 14 years of practice, it was not until a few years ago that I attended my first IPTA conference. This experience was game changing in terms of seeing how the IPTA has evolved in to a strong and member driven organization.
Not only did I attend a number of outstanding lectures, I was able to reconnect with a number of familiar faces and establish several new professional networks. Through this experience, I was able witness the workings of the assembly as a governing body and understand how the motions presented drove change in our organization and our profession. I came to understand the value of a strong professional organization and how the strength of the IPTA is really dependent upon the active participation of membership.
Through many conversations, I learned about new IPTA initiatives on key issues relating to access, scope of practice protection, and other legislative issues central to those who practice in Illinois. I learned from others who are challenging the boundaries of practice with creative and innovative solutions to our every day issues. I listened and participated in discussions around the future of a Physical Therapist’s practice.
Subsequent attendance of Revitalize has brought about further learning opportunities, the ability to stay connected with key issues in Illinois, and further professional opportunities for leadership roles. I have realized that the value of APTA and IPTA membership has never been greater.
I look forward to joining all the IPTA membership at Revitalize 2017 for the learning, the networking, and the connection.
