IPTA Speaker of the Assembly
After graduating PT school in FL (go Gators!) I moved to Ohio and quickly got involved in the OPTA by attending the local district meeting. I had questions and needed help. There I heard about the best practice of PT and how to practice legally in OH. It was a life saver! I meet PTs and PTAs passionate about physical therapy, many of them became my mentors and colleagues I’d go to for advice and when I had questions. It’s there that I heard about their Assembly of Representatives and how members could discuss and vote on issues that affected their membership, practice, and the future of the profession. Well, I wasn’t going to miss that gathering for sure. That’s how I got hooked on serving in roles that influence the governance of our association and the rest is history!
When I think of REVITALIZE I’m reminded of these early memories and how much more participating in IPTA’s conference and Assembly have kept me informed, energized, and equipped. The weekend is packed with great teaching and learning experiences, networking, idea sharing, and of course a few surprises! Our Assembly is held in conjunction with REVITALIZE, affording members the opportunity to be involved, be heard, and be a part of the solution for issues and concerns they have about their membership, practice, and the profession. The weekend is designed to strengthen you as a PT or PTA so you strengthen the profession.
I’m looking forward to REVITALIZE 2017. Come, fill up, spill out, and enjoy!
